How are Navajo rugs made? How and where did regional styles like Two Grey Hills and Teec Nos Pos develop? Native American art expert Andrew Thomas will lead an exploration of Navajo rugs, including the origin of Navajo weaving and how rugs are made, from carding to completion. He will also discuss types of dyes and how popular regional styles like Ganado, Two Grey Hills and Wide Ruins developed around trading posts in the early 20th century.
The event is FREE and will take place at Shumakolowa Native Arts inside the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
