***** It was okay!

Since we travel so much, we have learned not to expect much in some States. If your new in town, and friendly! and start talking to people, then people will talk to you. Not that many bars in this big city so you HAVE to start conversations. Bartenders are not that friendly unless you make the first step and talk to them first.

***** It can get busy

This place is O.K., the crowd can be sketchy. Lots of people on the weekends. Don't know if I would make this the first stop on my night out.

***** Not awful, but not much to recommend

Sidewinders falls into the sad category of "Well, there are only 3 gay bars in town, so it'll have to do". Only one of the bartenders ever remembers the night's theme or discounts. The owner/manager is immune to suggestions, he'll cut you off mid-sentence to ask if you've seen his online sex profile. You can meet fun people and make new friends at Sidewinders, but it's only because the patrons make an effort. The owner certainly doesn't.

***** All-around great gay bar!

Sidewinders Ranch has been producing a wonderful eclectic atmosphere for Albuquerque GLBT community since it arrived in 2004. It has a second "sports lounge" type bar in the back for more intimate, chatting encounters. It is very safe to say that *anyone* may find some fun to be had at Sidewinders. :-)

***** Rude

People are rude. The dj is 65 years old and so is the music. It smells like a porn shop and people are very rude. Liked it better when it was the Ranch even with the icky country music

***** I think I saw Pablo Escobar

There was so much snow falling in the bathroom, I thought I was in upstate New York. Other than that, a decent sleazy dive in a city with very few options. You'll be heading home early.

***** This is not San Francisco

This bar was strictly C&W during the days Nashville had good music. This bar has adapted well to a changing scene in a town of just a handful of bars. It is not dirty or have a street crowd, GROW UP!

***** Agreed, better when it was The Ranch

Bar name misleading, in that it only seems to be a C&W place for 2 hrs. on Saturday night. Friday night is dance/hip-hop type venue, as well as after 10 on Saturdays. Definately play to Gen-X/UNM crowd. 'was there 2 consecutive nights happy hour and regular evening out. Bartenders ignore you, need a bell if you want a drink, even if you are at end of beer and place out in front of them. Bar service not appropriate for a $5 cover these nights, and, no very few options to go out in this town.

***** Interesting

Write up is misleading...is not a huge entertainment complex. Is fun and laid back though.

***** Dirty and smells

Not near a clean as it was when it was the Ranch. Crowd is pretty rough, sort of street people. Service was poor. Bartenders rude, doorman rude and a lot of drunks later in the evening. A nice place gone bad.

***** Got some the first night I was there.

I don't like country but I do like the kind of guys that go there. There is a huge Air Force base around the corner so many of the guys are flyboys. People are kind of secretive because of all the research at the labs. There is a mix of cowboys, flyboys, researchers, latinos and Indians. They all look good to me. I'm sure there is Mr. Right for you too. The guy I met was an engineer from VA with a sweet smile, cute accent, and a small (but rock hard) muscle.

***** Sidewinders a great place to party
First to Review - June 05, 2007
This bar has taked the old "ranch " bar and given it alot to like. The management seems to know how to run a bar and pleae customers 7 days and nights a week.
